Sky Lake History
The former Wyoming Conference voted to purchase Sky Lake on April 10th, 1947. The camp was an Adirondack "Great Camp" in the style of the great camps of the "Robber Barons" of the last century, (but less opulent).
Legend has it that among the furnishings in the camp was various gambling paraphernalia that was sold along with the camp and it's structures. Being of the Methodist tradition (even though it could have been sold to defray the cost of purchase) it was decided to burn the above mentioned equipment lest any life be ruined by its employment. This I am certain gave Brother John Wesley another "heart warming experience".  Most of the original buildings have been replaced. The two current lodges are pictured below.
In the more than sixty years since that time three generations of this church as well as countless others have enjoyed the renewal of body, mind, and, spirit that spending time at Sky Lake can bring.

We hope you will join us this year for the retreat.
